The Raypak 016037 R8450Ti-E-HC Digital Electric Heat & Cool Pool & Spa Heat Pump is the larger of Raypak's two Classic residential Heat/Cool models, providing 137,000 BTU of factory-rated heating capacity along with active pool-water cooling capability.
The R8450Ti-E-HC incorporates a reversing valve that allows the refrigeration cycle to operate in both directions. During heating operation, the system extracts heat from the surrounding air and transfers it into the pool water. During cooling operation, the process reverses so excess heat can be removed from the pool water.
Raypak rates the R8450Ti-E-HC at 137,000 BTU with a 5.3 C.O.P. under 80°F air / 80°F water / 80% relative-humidity conditions. At the 80°F air / 63% RH / 80°F water test point, Raypak rates it at 129,000 BTU with a 5.2 C.O.P.
Its spiral titanium tube heat exchanger provides excellent resistance to pool-water corrosion and harsh chemistry, while the scroll compressor provides efficient and dependable refrigeration performance.
Raypak's digital control system provides pool and spa temperature management, onboard diagnostics and remote-control compatibility. Built-in Mini Automation functionality adds additional control flexibility for compatible pool equipment.

Heat & Cool Operation
The HC designation identifies this model as a Heat/Cool unit. Raypak's reversing-valve refrigeration system allows the heat pump to actively lower pool-water temperature during hot summer weather, rather than simply stopping the heating cycle.
The same reversing-valve technology also provides a defrost function. If freezing conditions are detected on the coil while the heat pump is heating, the system can temporarily switch operating modes to help prevent ice accumulation.
For larger residential pools requiring greater temperature-control capacity, the R8450Ti-E-HC provides significantly more output than the R6450Ti-E-HC while retaining both heating and cooling functionality.
