The Pentair MicroBrite 620429 is the white version of Pentair's MicroBrite 12-volt LED light with a 100-foot cord. At just 3.5 inches long it is one of the most compact 12V LED plastic lights in the industry, and it is nicheless: it installs in any standard 1.5-inch pool wall fitting, so there is no light niche to set. That makes it a natural fit for narrow walls, steps, tanning ledges, spas and tight spaces where a conventional niche light will not go, as well as a straightforward add-on light on an existing pool.
Output is white LED, on/off from a standard wall switch or a Pentair automation system – Pentair states the MicroBrite connects to any Pentair automation system, including the Color Sync Controller. Maximum draw is 12 watts per Pentair's current catalog and installation manual, which makes it an economical way to add white light to a spa, step area or small pool.
Because it is a 12-volt luminaire it must be powered through a 12 VAC safety isolation transformer, which is not included with this SKU (Pentair sells transformer combo kits separately). Pentair's manual limits a 100 W transformer to no more than six MicroBrite color lights and caps transformer loading at 80 percent of its rating. The light is UL compliant for horizontal and vertical installation – vertically it must sit at least 4 inches below the water line – and Pentair cautions not to use it with dimmer switches or run it out of water for more than 30 seconds. All Pentair UL Listed underwater lights are certified for fresh water with up to 6,000 ppm salinity.
