The Pentair MicroBrite 620424 is the color-changing version of Pentair's MicroBrite 12-volt LED light with a 50-foot cord. At just 3.5 inches long it is one of the most compact 12V LED plastic lights in the industry, and it is nicheless: it installs in any standard 1.5-inch pool wall fitting, so there is no light niche to set. That makes it a natural fit for narrow walls, steps, tanning ledges, spas and tight spaces where a conventional niche light will not go, as well as a straightforward add-on light on an existing pool.

Output is color LED. Pentair's manual lists twelve modes selected from the light switch: seven color shows (SAm, Party, Romance, Caribbean, American, California Sunset and Royal) and five fixed colors (blue, green, red, white and magenta). MicroBrite color lights are compatible with IntelliBrite color light shows and can be synchronized with IntelliBrite color lights, and Pentair states the light connects to any Pentair automation system, including the Color Sync Controller; the manual names IntelliTouch and EasyTouch. Maximum draw is 12 watts per Pentair's current catalog and installation manual.

Because it is a 12-volt luminaire it must be powered through a 12 VAC safety isolation transformer, which is not included with this SKU (Pentair sells transformer combo kits separately). Pentair's manual limits a 100 W transformer to no more than six MicroBrite color lights and caps transformer loading at 80 percent of its rating. The light is UL compliant for horizontal and vertical installation – vertically it must sit at least 4 inches below the water line – and Pentair cautions not to use it with dimmer switches or run it out of water for more than 30 seconds. All Pentair UL Listed underwater lights are certified for fresh water with up to 6,000 ppm salinity.
