The Pentair 461112 ETi Pool & Spa Heater delivers 250,000 BTU at 94% thermal efficiency - a full ten points above the 84% that conventional pool heaters achieve, and rising to 96% on propane.
That gap is the whole reason to specify an ETi. A conventional heater sends roughly 16% of the fuel you pay for out the flue as hot exhaust. The ETi's condensing design extracts that latent heat instead, and on a pool running long hours the fuel savings recover the price premium.
The titanium heat exchanger is the other differentiator. Titanium is immune to corrosion from salt, chlorine, and condensate acidity - the last of which is what destroys copper exchangers in condensing applications. It carries no water chemistry restrictions, which makes it the right heater for saltwater pools.
