The Hayward HS500FDNASME Universal H-Series ASME Natural Gas Pool & Spa Heater delivers 500,000 BTU - the largest output in the Universal H-Series range and a common specification for commercial pools, large residential installations, and any application where local code requires an ASME-certified vessel.
ASME certification is the practical difference here. The unit ships with an ASME pressure relief valve as standard and pairs a patented Cupro-Nickel Finn Plate heat exchanger with a bronze header, a combination specified for commercial duty cycles and aggressive water chemistry.
At 40 to 125 GPM the heater produces roughly a 21.9 F delta-T at minimum required flow. A forced-draft combustion system removes the need for a high-wind stack, and the cabinet installs indoors or outdoors with 12" side and 6" rear clearances.
