This is a personality kit, not a complete automation system. That distinction matters more than any other on this page. Pentair states that an IntelliTouch system requires three things — a Load Center or Power Center, an IntelliTouch Personality Kit, and an Interface. This part number is the middle item only. The enclosure that houses everything is a separate purchase, and without it this kit cannot be installed.

What the kit does provide is the Outdoor Control Panel, containing the main controller circuit board and the i9+3 personality board that defines the system's capacity. The i9+3 gives eight auxiliary circuits plus filter pump operation, together with the “+3” option — the ability to create a feature circuit for valve actuators without consuming an output auxiliary circuit, plus special light functions for colour lighting. Four power relays are included in the kit itself, with a further five supplied in the Load Center when one is purchased. Two valve actuators are included, along with water and air temperature sensors, a parts bag of relay screws and a label sheet for the panel buttons. This is a shared-equipment pool and spa kit; the single-body pool-only or spa-only variants are different part numbers (521223 i5+3S and 521224 i9+3S).

IntelliTouch has no native Wi-Fi or app control. Remote access requires a separately purchased ScreenLogic2 Interface. Pentair discontinued the entire IntelliTouch line on 31 July 2023 and recommends the IntelliCenter Control System and IntelliCenter Upgrade Kit as replacements. Pentair has stated that discontinued products continue to be supported and that legacy systems will be replaced under warranty with comparable equipment while parts remain available. One further caution: Pentair's own documents are inconsistent about whether an indoor control panel or MobileTouch remote ships inside a personality kit carton — the user guide's generic contents list mentions an interface while the same guide lists the Interface as a separate required component. Confirm before ordering.

Order this only when adding or replacing the personality in an existing IntelliTouch installation that already has a Load Center or Power Center.
