The Pentair IntelliCenter 521903 i8PS is the eight-function shared-equipment bundle for a pool and spa served by one pump, filter and heater. It provides a dedicated filter pump circuit plus seven auxiliary circuits, with intake and return valve control built into the personality so pool-to-spa changeover is automated rather than manual.
This is a legacy part number. Pentair's Transition Guide supersedes 521903 with 523961, and 521903 no longer appears in the current 2025–2026 Pentair catalogue. The reason for the re-numbering is the salt cell: Pentair changed the bundled cell from the IntelliChlor IC40 to the newer IntelliChlor Plus40 (523735), and issued fresh part numbers for the salt bundles only. The system ships in an IntelliCenter Load Center with a 150 A built-in circuit breaker subpanel and five pre-installed high-voltage relays, the i8PS personality adding three more for eight total. Both the salt chlorine generator transformer and a salt cell are included, along with two IntelliValve valve actuators.
A note on the cell. Pentair's own documents are not fully consistent here. The Pentair SKU page, the replacement-parts sheet and the Automation Transition document all describe 521903 as shipping the IntelliChlor IC40; the Transition Guide's cell column reads “Yes, ICL Plus40”, though that column most plausibly describes the replacement part number rather than the legacy one. We have listed IC40 on the strength of the three SKU-specific sources, and recommend confirming with your distributor at time of order. Control is otherwise through the IntelliCenter touchscreen and the Pentair Pool app, with the outdoor wireless antenna included, and the system expands over RS-485 across up to three enclosures for as many as 39 auxiliary circuits.
